The first edition of Tackling Tough Issues was a small printing of a compilation of forty-nine articles published in 2024 from The Village Reporter column. This second edition includes slight editing to improve readability and corrections of a few minor errors. The second edition was designed to be a permanent record of the 2023 column. The dates associated with the article titles reflect the publication dates of the print edition of The Village Reporter and not the dates of the articles posted online. Most of the articles respond to current events or Bergman's experiences that he concludes are of interest to general readers. He has worked in a large state prison, for the courts as a researcher, and at Arlington Psychological Associates Clinic as a licensed therapist. The column, published since 2022 in The Village Reporter, was titled "Is It Really So?"-a title selected by the editor.
