Taha the Kava: Roots of Aloha

Taha the Kava: Roots of Aloha is a gentle, hopeful children's story about resilience, community, and the enduring spirit of aloha.

Set in a lush island garden overlooking the sea, the story follows Taha the Kava and his plant friends as they live in harmony with the land-until powerful winds and fire change everything. When the garden is left silent and covered in ash, Taha discovers that even after great loss, life can begin again.

As rain falls and new shoots rise, Taha and his friends work together to heal the land, protect the soil, and welcome new growth. Guided by the wisdom of Grandma and the love of a young girl named Leilani, the garden slowly transforms from ashes to blossoms, reminding readers that caring for each other and the earth makes healing possible.

Rooted in Hawaiian values, Taha the Kava: Roots of Aloha introduces young readers to themes of environmental stewardship, ʻohana (family), kindness, and hope after disaster. With lyrical prose and memorable plant characters, this story offers comfort during difficult times and encourages children to believe in renewal, connection, and the strength that comes from love.

Perfect for ages 0-12, this book is ideal for families, classrooms, and anyone looking to share a message of healing, courage, and aloha.

Aloha! I'm the creator of Aloha in Every Bite and the founder of Kihei Web Design LLC, where my two biggest passions - Hawaiian culture and digital creativity - come together in the heart of Maui. Just a few short years ago, I took my first trip to Maui and was instantly hooked. The beauty, spirit, and community of the island made such an impact on me that I knew I had to return - not just to visit, but to stay. After one unforgettable vacation in October 2017, I made the leap and landed back in Maui just 30 days later to start a brand-new chapter. Now based in Kihei, I've combined my love of the island with years of experience in web design, marketing, SEO, and small business development. I started Kihei Web Design LLC to bring fresh, modern digital services to local businesses across the islands, helping them grow, connect, and thrive. But my love for Maui didn't stop at pixels and code - it extended into the kitchen.
