About the Author

Eric Cross was born in Newry, County Down in 1905 and was educated as a chemical engineer.

He is best known as the recorder of the life of the Tailor and his wife Ansty, who first made their appearance in print in The Bell in February 1941.

Silence is Golden, a selection of stories and essays by Eric Cross appeared in 1978, he died in 1980.
