The Take Back: A Short Story Collection (Owl Hollow Anthology Series)

Have you ever wondered what would happen if…

The Great Gatsby‘s Daisy took charge of her own life instead of letting someone else control her outcome?

The Bluest Eye‘s Polly Breedlove wasn’t forced to dote on white children at the expense of her own daughter?

Sixteen Candles’ Long Duk Dong was a whole lot more than just a nerdy Asian?

This collection of short stories is called The Take Back because in it, the authors take back tropes, stereotypes, and characters that have misrepresented people like them in the past—and re-imagine them in ways that explore their lived experiences and play with narratives to create new conversations.

Join us for a collection of delightful and enlightening parodies and fictional analyses, where you just might find yourself in one or two of the stories. And maybe they’ll even inspire your own take back.
