Backed in red leather, heavily rubbed and worn, with chipping to spine ends, gilt titling and decorative tooling. Corners and board edges bumped, with boards exposed. Previous owner's signature in ink to ffep. Text block heavily toned and soiled, but all text remains readable. A tale of Siberian exploration, with descriptions of the native people ("who are almost as wild as the Indians of America"), the "cold and dreary" landscape, the northern lights, the fur trade, and the abundance of natural resources, including gold, silver, copper, and diamond mines.
