A Tale of a Hero and the Song of Her Sword

If more girls grew up to be heroes, the world would be different. In Rowen Milne's world, heroes study sword play and learn to slay magical beasts, but Rowen is full of surprises. With her sword at her hip and her keen mind and conscience to guide her through stunning fencing competitions and heroic battles, Rowan leaves convention behind and on her way redefines the role of the hero in society and the meaning of heroism. Now it will include empathy, creative problem solving and self-discovery. Sometimes, girls just don't want to settle for "happily ever after." Although the external setting of Rowen's world is fantasy medieval, her psychological mind set is every-woman modern. The concept of the story of a thinking young woman in charge in essentially a man's world is a joy.

This was the first book of mine that ever reached publication.  When I wrote it I thought I was just writing adventure fantasy.  I did not know that I was writing for young adults.  After it came out as a young adult title, I was thrilled to start getting lovely letters from adults who enjoyed it.  My point is, nobody knows anything.  I think it's a good book.  Fun.  Light.  Important in its own small way.  I think of it as an anthem for young women.  But what do I know?
