Mdo Mkhar Tshe Ring Dbang Rygal lived in 18th-century Tibet. He was a politician, a trained Buddhist, and, as we've just now discovered, a heckuva writer. The Tale of Incomparable Prince has the earmarks of an epic novel: The grand story of a two men in pursuit of one fantastic woman, it features kings and warriors, romance and lust. The book also reveals the ancient world of Buddhist Tibet that is little known in the West today, described by a writer with a keen knack for storytelling.
