About the Author
Patrick Ching is a renowned wildlife artist from Hawaii whose work has been displayed internationally. Born and raised in Hawaii, he has acquired a love for the islands which he portrays through his artwork and writing. Patrick works part-time for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. By exploring remote areas of Hawaii, he is able to observe Hawaii's native animals in their natural environments and thus portray them accurately in his works of art. The author and illustrator of several Hawaiian animal books, Patrick Ching was recently selected as the artist for Hawaii's first state wildlife stamp. The stamp was released in May 1996 and features Hawaii's state bird, the nene (goose).
