A delightful, uniformly bound selection of Dickens' novels and travel works, each featuring a charming frontispiece. Uniformly bound in the publisher's original green cloth with the gilt facsimile signature to the front boards. Collection comprised of: A Tale of Two Cities; The Personal History of David Copperfield; The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby; The Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit; The Posthumous Papers of The Pickwick Club; Barnaby Rudge: A Tale of the Riots of 'Eighty; Christmas Books; Sketches by Boz: Illustrative of Every-day Life and Every-day People; Hard Times and Pictures from Italy; The Uncommercial Traveller; American Notes and Reprinted Pieces. Each work is illustrated with a frontispiece. Undated, dated from copies held by the British Library. A lovely selection of novels, stories and travel works from celebrated British author and journalist Charles Dickens, who created some of literature's best-known fictional characters, and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. Uniformly bound in the publisher's original green cloth with the gilt facsimile signature to the front boards. Externally, very smart with minor bumping and rubbing, resulting in slight loss of cloth and a few small tears, primarily to the spine heads and tails, and further light marking to the boards. Marking a little heavier to David Copperfield, which is also subtly frayed along the front joint, the boards being particularly vulnerable. Internally, generally firmly bound, hinges being a little delicate, causing minor and periodical weakness, mostly towards the first few pages. David Copperfield especially fragile, the half title and frontispiece being completely loose. All copies a little age toned but reasonably bright and clean with sporadic spotting, heavier to the first and last few pages. Good.…
