Tales from the Outer Rim

Tales from the Outer Rim presents three stories woven by a common thread tied to a service station in space.

It’s the final outpost and pivotal point in the lives of three protagonists. Rusty is the best gambler in New Vegas: he always wins, taking advantage of the hidden weaknesses of other players. But he gets arrogant, as often happens, and this time it'll be a different game and what is at stake is his life. Literally… Henry Lance is a tycoon, a genius: bored and annoyed by the mediocrity of other people, but mostly by his brother Darius. Henry embarks on an ambitious chess game: he plans to rule the world. But sometimes you're not the King of the chessboard, but the Pawn… The Hunter is the best galactic bounty killer out there, ruthless and efficient: he has no rival. He has now been hired to catch a girl but he soon discovers an enemy that even he can't defeat: love.

ALBERTO CONTE has worked as a translator, ghost writer and then writer for cartoons and comics, and as a director and art director on the science fiction film "Twin Nature". Since 2003 he has concentrated his work on comics. With Luca Rossi they have published "The Boss", a noir short story published in the anthology Alta Fedeltà Volume 2; "U.S.S." a series of science fiction stories and "Last on the List" a pulp story collection, both published by Magic Press Publishing, then in France by Clair de Lune Editions. He has written "Ulysses", a short story with Stefano Biglia, published by Tunuè Editions and in 2011 working again with Luca Rossi: "In the Blues", a noir short story published in the magazine Heavy Metal; and then a horror graphic novel titled "Le fauteuil du Diable" for the French editor Clair de Lune. After which he wrote "Codename: Heroes for Hire" a two volume science fiction series published by French Editor Clair de Lune; "Johnny Cilecca", a parody of the hard boiled genre; "The Children from Villa Emma" a graphic novel based on a true story from WWII.

LUCA ROSSI attended the Comics School of Milan and starting working as illustrator for various video game production companies. His work captured the interest of one of Italy's biggest Editor, Sergio Bonelli, and from 2000 has worked on the horror series "Dampyr" for which he still does work. In 2003 he began an artistic partnership with Alberto Conte which has resulted in "The Boss", noir short story published in the anthology Alta Fedeltà Volume 2; "U.S.S." a series of short science fiction stories and "Last on the List" a pulp stories volume, both published by Magic Press Publishing, and in France by Clair de Lune Editions. He has also worked on "House of Mystery" for Vertigo/DC Comics. In 2011 he collaborated again with Conte on "In the Blues", a noir short story published in Heavy Metal magazine; and then a horror graphic novel titled "Le fauteuil du Diable" for the French editor Clair de Lune.

Since 1996 ANDREA PICCARDO has worked in the graphics and design industry. He has worked with "Festival of Two Worlds" a music and opera festival in Spoleto, collaborated with the indie-rock group called "Number6", done work for webzines, University of Genoa, and Coconino Press Publishing. From 2003 to 2005 he worked with Luca Rossi and Alberto Conte as a graphic design and colorist for their comic projects.
