Tao Te Ching is one of Master Classics Library series. Since the 1990s,Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) has taken promoting international cultural exchange as its responsibility, committed to the introduction and publishing of the original foreign language books,and gradually formed a large-scale, systematic, quality-oriented publishing tradition so that it has made a profound impact on the readers. Now, publishing of foreign language books in China are badly imbalanced: there are a relatively wide variety of books of literature and art,but fewer types of books of humanities and social science published, which lags behind the growing cultural demand. To improve such situation, FLTRP has decided to edit and publish English books of philosophy and social science, as a Master Classics Library series to introduce classical academic masterpiece of a number of world-renowned thinkers, philosophers, political scientists, historians and psychologists, including the authoritative English version of philosophy in China to provide the high-quality reading materials of English language for English learners and the necessary academic information for social science research workers of all kinds as well.
