The Tao of a Woman

Poetry. Women's Studies. This book of poetic soulful verses, vignettes and mantras is in the tradition of Eduardo Galeano's Book of Embraces and Rumi's poetry. It offers mind-spins to turn you away from flashy troubles toward the surprise twist of a woman's hard-earned way. From the foreword: "After a therapy session, I hand my client a post-it note that highlights what we have accomplished. These mysterious hypnotic mantras find their way to a wallet, a palm pilot, or a fridge door. They help the person reenter a replenishing meditation or mini-trance and sometimes they become part of the premises for the client to flourish."

Michele Ritterman admires the poet-warrior tradition. Her writings--whether about therapy, human rights or spirituality--confront humanity at the interface of a less than human new world order. Her books Using Hypnosis in Family Therapy, Hope Under Siege: Terror and Family Support and now THE TAO OF A WOMAN are about awakenings from the harsh socially induced trances into visions of a gentler and more sensuous day.
