Two volumes. Vol I 201pages. and Vol II 206pages. Frontisp. engraving of Addison in Vol I and of Steele in Vol II. Early leather boards showing some wear, mainly at the edges. Skillfully rebacked gilt ruled spine in recent calf with black morocco gilt title label. Signed 'Griffith Briscoe' at the top of the title page of Vol I and 'Griffith Briscoe 1780' at the top of the first page of Vol II. Darkening of edges and foxing. The two volumes comprise what are described in the publisher's adverstisement page as " the papers of Mr. Addison published by Sir. Richard Steele in the Tatler".
