Teaching Music in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: A Practical Guide for Rwandan Tertiary Institutions

Teaching Music in the Age of Artificial Intelligence explores how emerging AI technologies are transforming music education in Rwandan higher education institutions. Grounded in local realities and global innovations, this practical guide equips music teachers, trainer programs, and curriculum developers with the knowledge and tools needed to meaningfully integrate artificial intelligence into music teaching and learning. Blending African musical traditions with contemporary digital pedagogy, the book demystifies AI concepts and translates them into classroom-ready strategies for composition, performance, theory, assessment, and research. It addresses ethical, cultural, and pedagogical concerns, ensuring that technology enhances rather than replaces— human creativity and musicianship. Written with the Rwandan higher education context in mind, this book is an essential resource for universities, teacher training colleges, and policymakers seeking to prepare future music educators for a rapidly evolving digital world.
