Elogiado por Lope, Quevedo y Cervantes, el mercedario Alonso Rem�n redact� muchas piezas teatrales entre las cuales se distinguen. "El Espa�ol entre todas las naciones", "Grandezas de Madrid", y la que est� a mano, "Las tres mujeres en una". El estilo de Rem�n, cuyas huellas luego sigui� Tirso -tambi�n cronista mercedario-, si refleja los rasgos impuestos por Lope, no deja de tener ciertas notas personales. Esta comedia nos presenta varias figuras bien delineadas: Teodora, joven dama que se enreda hasta sentir celos de s� misma, y Cascabel, el gracioso con muchos toques humor�sticos. Todo este cl�sico enredo se desenvuelve en el Madrid antiguo, resaltando los encantos de su ambiente: que por encima del tiempo ser�n los del Madrid de ahora y de siempre.
