Technology and Product Management

"Technologies and the Products that get evolved through the process of technological evolution should be at the centre stage of any organization; more so a business enterprise. It will not be out of place to say that they should occupy place of prominence even in R&D labs and Academic Institutes. The great power of 'Technology' resulting in 'Products' with quick transition to customers was very clearly evident in the pandemic where only those companies survived who were very strong in both; the remaining ones could not sustain themselves. Although several books might have been written on both, we felt that we should give an integrated approach to our readers with practical examples and certain checkpoints which should help in building up an enterprise. The enterprise in this context could be an Industry, R&D Lab, or an Academic Institute. The timing could not have been more appropriate than now when India, having already become one of the fastest growing economies in the world, has set up a target to achieve a status of fully developed country by 2047. We are convinced that only 'Technology' and thereby its 'Products' will make that happen; and hence this book. The book deals with the above subjects in two parts. First part deals with 'Technology' presented by Yogesh Kumar, who has successfully led a number of technology-driven programs at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL); including the largest and most prestigious Light Combat Aircraft (LCA-Tejas) program. The second part deals with 'Product Management' presented by Manik Gupta who shares his views based on his vast experience in this field as Guest Author. Manik worked for almost two decades in world's most reputed Coys. such as Google, Uber, and Microsoft. Although the book is written with Indian scenario and audience in mind, we feel that the concepts brought out will apply everywhere. It is our strong conviction that the book will be particularly useful and serve as a guide to a number of Public and Private enterprises, R&D Labs, and Academic Institutes who are venturing into aerospace and defence and other technology- driven domains first time. It will give us immense pleasure if this book can be of some use to various organizations aspiring to grow through 'Technologies' and 'Products'."
