Un-bear-ably cute is this very brief story of the teddy bear. Essentially, it's a chronology of the bear's development, beginning with the Steiff prototype in 1902 and ending with special editions and artist-rendered toys. Color photographs, more than words, show beginners the finer points of distinguishing "real" bears and avoiding auction frenzy (such as a Steiff bear selling for $86,000 in 1989). Supplement this "bear bones" documentation with such books as Cockrill's The Teddy Bear Encyclopedia, among others.
