About the Author

Dr. Joye Norris has been working with adult educators for more than a decade, helping them to shift from telling to teaching, from hope to evidence, from delivery to discovery.

After studying with Dr. Jane Vella,author of Learning to Listen, Learning to Teach, Joye began sharing her enthusiasm for a dialogue approach to education with thousands of educators across the country. In all cases, the organizations asking for Joye's help were dissatisfied with their current educational efforts which relied heavily on telling and handouts but lacked substantial learner engagement.

Joye has combined her doctorate in Counselor Education from NC State University with her love for adult education and created a refreshing and energizing outlook on learning. She has co-authored two books: Developing Literacy Programs for Homeless Adults and Maximizing Paraprofessional Potential, both published by Krieger.
