Charles Addison (1812-66) was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in June 1842, and his Preface is dated Inner Temple November that year. He also wrote a history of the Templars (1842), an account of his travels to Damascus and Palmyra (1838) and various legal texts. Original green cloth with gilt Middle Temple / Knights Templar coat of arms to front (the lamb of God bearing the cross of St George, laid on to a shield with the Cross of St George), gilt-titled to spine 15 x 21cm. viii + 127 + 4pp (publisher's advert for Addison's History of the Knights Templars) + all advertised plates (Frontispiece, illustrated Title, 3 full-page plates with tissue-guards, and plates over the chapters). Good copy. Outer boards attached by repair tape. Original spine & boards remain, spine worn with loss to top.
