Temporary Answers; Speech Act Theory: A Critical Analysis of Selected Dialogues in the light of Speech Act Theory

Language is an indispensable part of human civilization. It is universal that there is a considerable gap between literal meaning and implied meaning of sentences. The study of language in context is covered by Pragmatics, which is very important to unravel the cluster of implied meanings. Pragmatics provides us a vision to look beyond the world of literal meanings and enjoy a discourse or a text at its best. The speech act theory works as a torch in the appreciation of any text. The present book is an outcome of a research conducted in the light of Speech Act theory on the novel 'Temporary Answers' written by Jai Nimbkar. This book would be a great help to all the students of language and literature in appreciation of the novel 'Temporary Answers'.
