Tempus Venit

A shadowy figure stalks the city, targeting not just models, but anyone who dares to pose for artists. Five victims have already had their faces destroyed by acid, their beauty and identity stripped away in violent attacks that leave no trace of a connection between them. Fear spreads through the artistic community as no one knows who will be next-and why.

Father O'Hara, fears the danger has come too close to home. The attacks are near the Hotel Cyclades, where he has taken in the homeless, and the tension in the air is thick. Desperate, he calls upon the Tempus Militibus and the Viking Jarl, Lanny Lancnut, a Militibus officer with a dark past. Lanny once helped Father O'Hara, but this case drags him into far more dangerous territory.

The investigation forces Lanny to face not only the faceless attacker but the presence of Sister Angelica, a young nun whose beauty hides a dangerous power over him. In the past, Lanny almost fell into forbidden temptation with her, risking his life and hers. As a Militibus vampire, Lanny cannot afford to feel desire for a mortal of purity. The sickness that lurks within him would destroy them both if it awakens.

As the acid attacks grow more vicious and the body count rises, Lanny must walk a razor-thin line between duty and forbidden lust. The closer he gets to the truth, the closer he is drawn to Sister Angelica-and to a fate that could bring about his own destruction. Time is running out, and the stalker's next move could bring the city to its knees.
