The Tennessee Event

In this 'unexplained impossible event' novel, Sharon, age 10, lives with her older brother and mother in a farmhouse in rural Tennessee. A high voltage TVA power line runs across their back field. On the first big snow day of the winter, Sharon, out reveling in the snow, is somehow cloned when something happens to the power line above. The rest of the book deals with how a variety of people – the mother, brother, an adult friend, and a group in California, including an accountant, the dean of a Catholic College, a history professor at the college, and a graduate student they assign to investigate, react to and try to understand and/or hide this event.

Ralph Bowden has entertained himself by writing mostly fiction for 25 years, through and following careers as an electrical engineer in the aerospace industry, a history professor, a home builder, an alternative energy consultant, an instructional designer, and a technical writer. Twenty-one novels, four short story collections, and a three-act play hide, mostly unread, on his hard drive. He likes all of his word offspring. Realistically, some of them are probably terrible. Others might entertain readers besides himself, but Ralph hasn’t the time or ego drive to promote and sell, nor the stomach for collecting rejection letters. Self-publishing avoids all that and is quick and virtually free. If somebody finds and likes what he has written, fine. If not, the world will go on (or not) just the same.
