About this Item

An early printing of this poetry book by Robert Bridges, originally published before the author's death in 1929. This poem helped Bridges gain great popularity. With a publisher's note on the text bound in to rear.Robert Seymour Bridges was a British poet, who, despite not gaining popularity until shortly before his death, was made poet laureate from 1913 to 1930. Bridges was best remembered for this particular work, also writing a number of hymns and prosaic works. With a frontispiece of Robert Bridges, dated 1913. In a quarter vellum binding, with marbled boards. Externally, very smart, with light soiling to the vellum, as expected. Light bumping and fading to the extremities of the boards and the occasional mark. A touch of offsetting to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. The odd spot, mainly to the first and last pages. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # 877Q15
