One type written letter on Premier Malt Products Inc., company letter head. Water marked (unable to identify). Dated August 11, 1978 and signed by G.F. Wendelken, General Manager. The second piece is on the same letter headed paper, an insert titled "Tired of Sweet Wine?" A short remedy of replacing barley (or usual grain) with malt extract for 'improved results' and an interesting listing of references containing Barley Wine and Malt Wine recipe books. The last piece "Things you probably never knew about one of nature's finest products, Malt Extract" is a company history brochure; accordion folded, illustrated on both sides with photographs (Fine). Premier Malt Products was born in the early 1920's as a response to prohibition. Family breweries were closed, including Pabst Brewing Company. The Peristein brothers bought controlling interest in Pabst and changed the name to Premier Malt Products, Inc. The new company began to began to produce a line of canned malts both with and without hops sold across American grocery stores. Post prohibition, Pabst family reacquired the company and began again to brew beer. The demand for the malt products however continued; Malt Extract along with Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer was produced until the company closed in 1980. ; 8vo.
