Dr. Mishra holds B.Sc. (Tech) in Textile Technology from Calcutta University; M. Tech and Ph.D in Fibre Science and Technology from I.I.T, Delhi. He was awarded C.S.I.R. Research Associateship (1981-84), for independent research on polyester fibre. He then served SSM Institute of Textile Technology, Komarapalayam (1984-87) as Head of Department, Man-made Fibre Technology and later Alagappa University, Karaikudi (1987-1998), as Reader in Textile Chemistry.
