The plays of Voltaire, a prolific French Enlightenment writer and historian famous for his wit and criticisms of Christianity, the Roman Catholic Church, and slavery. Voltaire wrote upwards of fifty plays in his lifetime, mostly tragedies. These volumes contain works such as: dipe, Mariamne, Brutus, Zulime, M�rope, Nanine, L'Orphelin de la Chine, Tancr�de, Sophonisbe, and Don Pedre. Bound in quarter green calf with marbled boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Near Fine.
