Original calf spine with marbled paper boards in green and brown. Small gilt lettering on spine. Spine ends are rubbed, and boards are scuffed and faded. Ownership information in ink, of Isabella Sudven, Westhampton. Interior page and rear flyleaf bears the stamp of the Williamsburgh Historical Society, Massachusetts, which is crossed out. Interior pages are substantially foxed, but without known marginalia. This pocket-sized book contains chapters with questions and answers on the existence and character of God, the sacred scriptures, the trinity, creation, providence, angels, apostasy and depravity, atonement, regeneration, holy love, justification, death, happiness and misery, worship, sabbath, church, baptism, church government, the millennium, and more. William Cogswell (1787-1850) was an American clergyman from New Hampshire. Hardcover, good condition. 195 pages, 24mo.
