In the past decade, the cognitive revolution of the 60s and 70s has been replaced or restructured by constructivism and its associated theories, including situated, sociocultural, ecological, everyday, and distributed conceptions of cognition. These theories represent a paradigm shift for educators and instructional designers, to a view of learning as necessarily more social, conversational, and constructive than traditional transmissive views of learning. Never in the history of education have so many different theories said the same things about the nature of learning and the means for supporting it. At the same time, although there is a remarkable amount of consonance among these theories, each also provides a distinct perspective on how learning and sense making occur.
This book provides students, faculty, and instructional designers with a clear, concise introduction to these theories and their implications for the design of new learning environments for schools, universities, and corporations. The editors and authors of this volume provide much interesting information on the construction of varied learning environments promoting an active ownership of learning and understanding....[the books] organization (specifically, the references made within chapters to material in other chapters) allows the reader to make useful comparisons between the models.

Shipping terms
This is what we said here in 2018, the last time it was edited: "Postage and packing is charged at our rate listed with ABE. However it is worth pointing out that UK postage just goes on going up and that sending a huge Fine Art book to Timbuctoo is simply not going to travel there for six or seven quid. We feel that clarifying this is in everyone's interests and mention it because mostly we're not paperback merchants and include a sizeable number of hefty books in our stock."
Since then things have taken an even steeper down-turn; overseas shipping has become so expensive it's virtually impossible to send cheaper books anywhere simply because of the sites' policies of charging their commissions based on the combined price of book plus shipping. This was done originally because nobody could think of a way to circumvent those book firms, and we all know who they are, who insist on selling their books for twopence + shipping, and there's not much commission on twopence. However now that postage has gone through the roof and out the other side we have ended up with stalemate. Example - £8 book Economy to USA at £16 or £17, commission at approx 20% on £25 is £5. Net price of book before packaging costs £3. We won't even begin to discuss airmail, or air tracked. Solutions on a postcard please.
