The phorograph, or motion diagram, was introduced in the 1st edition and has been proven to be an easily grasped tool for students to solve mechanical engineering problems. Questions at end of chapters, ToC, indexed, with many line drawings and tables for calculation. xii + 340pp. Professor Robert W. Angus (1873-1960), the first Professor of Mechanical Engineering for the University of Toronto and Head of the Department there for many years (1907-1944). The Robert W. Angus Medal was established in 1957 to honor the late Robert W. Angus who was for many years Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto. This award is to recognize a Canadian engineer for outstanding contributions to the management and practice of mechanical engineering. Hardcover has black boards with gold lettering and bands on spine, but no DJ. This copy is from a public (or perhaps a company's) library and modified to appear privately owned. Filing sticker removed from spine, hand hash marks on page-edges so library stamps are not ledgible, rear end-pages glued together, reverse of title page bleached on marking and occasional black-out of stamps within text. These modifications did not affect book's usability or general condition. Interior is tight, clean and otherwise unmarked. Pages are above average thickness and semi-gloss coated. Copyright 1917. No dates for 1st edition, 2nd edition stated. Printed in U.S.A. Second edition, tenth impression stated. 1917 on front of title page indicates this copy printed in year of copyright. Not enough information known to say whether 10th impression includes 9 of the 1st and this is 1st of the 2nd edition or not. No LCCN, ISBN nor MSR.
