Lacking the supplement volume and the plate volume.An expansive study on the architecture of bridges, both in theory and in practice.Volume I comprises of 'Theory of Bridges' by James Hann, alongside 'General Principles of Construction', 'Theory of the Arch', 'Papers on Foundations', 'Account of Hutcheson Bridge, Glasgow', and 'Mathematical Principles of Dredge's Suspension Bridge'.Volume II comprises of 'Essay and Treatises on the Theory and Architecture of Bridges' by William Hosking, alongside 'Specification of Chester Dee Bridge', and 'Practical Description of the Timber Bridges on the Utica and Syracuse Railroad'.Illustrated with an engraved title to each volume, alongside in-text engravings.Engraved titles are dated 1839, whereas the typeset titles are dated 1843. In a half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart, a little rubbed to the spine and extremities. Light marks and rubbing to the cloth. Minor bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is strained, rear hinge is starting. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned with scattered spots. First gathering to Volume I is working loose, may detach with further handling. Good.
