Scarce Fifth Edition.Contemporary half-crushed morocco binding on marbled boards, with inscription on front endpaper that states 'Bound by Trevor White Apprentice Pitman 1953'.Illustrations include two folding plates and a range of full-page and in-text illustrations.This is a comprehensive text-book which was intended to cover the syllabuses of the B.Sc. and I.Mech.E. examinations in the subjects of thermodynamics, specifically with heat engines.Contents include 'The Heating and Expansion of Gases', 'The Laws of Perfect Gases', 'Air Cycles', 'Steam Nozzles', and 'Steam Turbines'.Written by E. H. Lewitt, lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Imperial College of Science and Technology.Collated, complete. Contemporary binding, bound in half-crushed morocco on marbled boards by an apprentice at Isaac Pitman & Sons. Externally, excellent, with no noticeable faults other than a bit of age-toning to the margins of marbled boards. Light offsetting to margins of endpapers from the leather binding. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout, with the lightest of age-toning to margins of text. Near Fine.
