Getting Thin: All About Fat--How You Get It, How You Lose It, How You Keep It Off for Good

Combines a survey of up-to-date scientific research on weight control with practical advice on losing weight to present a diet and exercise plan

Mirkin, author of The Sportsmedicine Book, and Foreman write here of the latest discoveries in diet research and emphasize that incorporating exercise into one's lifestyle is the only safe and permanent way to lose and not regain extra stores of fat in the body. They also introduce the Getting Thin diet, a sensible, moderate regimen in which 1300 calories a day, chosen from foods on prescribed lists, and a daily exercise routine are equal components. PW found the authors' advice sound and its presentation "readable and lively."
