Think Red Ink

Don C Harris is a man who, as a boy, yielded his heart, bowed his knee and committed his life to the service of God. He started on the conventional path but even as he excelled in the glory days of television evangelism; he had a problem with questions. Don was a disappointed man. If God wasn't real . . . he wasn't interested. Don was forced by his desire for truth to walk away from the familiar roads of Christianity. For over 20 years he traveled enjoying life with his wife in a converted bus-motor home. Don was looking for answers, and one day his disappointment was interrupted when 'The Teacher', began to ask him questions. This introspection and meditation resulted in a revelation of the truth that the life and conversations of Jesus are relevant to the disappointed men of today . . . just as they were 2,000 years ago. "Frankincense to offer have I..." squealed 11 year old Don at the Christmas play, blissfully unaware of the real sacrifice that would be required to obtain the relationship he desired with God.

He started on the conventional path but even as he excelled in the glory days of television evangelism; he had a problem with the lack of power and inconsistencies in the Church.

The Bible is a surprise to most who read it.  Have you read it?

• Who were those people? (Certainly not the people Don knew in church)
• Who was that God? (Not the God Don was taught in Sunday School)
• Is the Bible believable? (Yes, it is)

As Bible study continued, the confusion intensified.  It seemed that modern Christianity was in the midst of some "New Deal."  Does the church even have the authority to offer a new deal?  Don had his doubts.

"There lives more faith in honest doubt, believe me, than in half the creeds."

Ought not the words of Jesus be considered, when someone desires to enter the Kingdom of God? Don found that the treasure has not been hidden from us, but hidden for us - in the Bible's red ink.
