This interdisciplinary collection of essays examines the cultural, symbolic and political ways in which the "common" is defined in the era of globalisation. The overall aim is to understand the emergence of communities which resist pressure to conform to an externally imposed norm.
Pascale Cohen-Avenel is full professor at Paris Nanterre university where she co-directs the CRPM, Centre de Recherches Pluridisciplinaires Multilingues. Her research focuses on national stereotypes in popular culture and globalization as well as on representations of violence in the Franco-German wars.
