His powers of expression must go on steadily developing throughout his school life. In our view, there is no need for any radical change of outlook or method in the Middle Forms; the famous "middle school problem" need not arise if sound method is used. It is our earnest hope that the present work will prove satisfactory for this stage. To the vocabulary of 750 words used in the second book, about 250 new words have been added, making a total at the end of the third year of approximately 1,000 words.
