Five volumes (complete thus), all in original boards with gilt vignette upper board, dustjackets, publisher's tint green upper edge. 'The Mayor of Casterbridge' has a very small closed tear upper edge of d.j. Near-fine condition in near-fine dustjackets. In original slipcase (lightly scuffed). An excellent, clean set. [this is a heavy set - please inquire regarding postage rates] Five classic Hardy novels. All here are 1978 reprints of the 1975 Macmillan 'New Wessex' edition, which was the first in hardback. All volumes have a separate introduction (for example 'Far from the Madding Crowd' is introduced by John Bayley and 'Tess' is introduced by P.N. Furbank).
