Synopsis
Writer Len Wein is joined by all-time great THOR artist Walter Simonson, and there's no question that what's in store will be legendary! About the Author
After co-creating DC's Swamp Thing, Len Wein moved to Marvel for lengthy runs on the company's biggest titles — Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Hulk and Thor — and helped launch the landmark Giant-Size X-Men #1. Returning to DC as an editor, Wein oversaw an influx of British writing talent, highlighted by Alan Moore's historic Watchmen miniseries. Wein also worked in television and animation, returning to his roots to develop a Swamp Thing screenplay.
Roy Thomas joined the Marvel Bullpen as a writer and editor, scripting key runs of nearly every title of the time: Avengers, Doctor Strange, Thor, X-Men and more. He wrote the first 10 years of Marvel's Conan the Barbarian, and launched such series as Defenders, Iron Fist, Invaders and Warlock. At DC, he developed All-Star Squadron, reviving the Justice Society. Thomas later became editor of Alter Ego, a magazine of comics history, and co-scripted the sword-&-sorcery films Fire and Ice and Conan the Destroyer.
After earning acclaim for DC's award-winning "Manhunter" feature, Walter Simonson moved to Marvel where he had a revered run writing and drawing Thor. He collaborated with his wife, Louise, on both X-Factor and Wildstorm's World of Warcraft, later returning to Marvel to illustrate Avengers.
John Buscema (1927-2002) literally wrote the book on being a Marvel artist, How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way. Soon after beginning the Marvel Age of Comics, Stan Lee recruited Buscema to the Marvel Bullpen. Buscema followed a long run on Avengers with the first Silver Surfer series. By the time of his retirement in 1996, Buscema had penciled nearly every Marvel title, including his personal favorite, Conan the Barbarian.
Roger Stern enjoyed well-regarded runs on Spider-Man — in which he introduced Monica Rambeau and the Hobgoblin — and Avengers. At DC, he co-created Starman (Will Payton) before contributing to the 1992 "Death of Superman" storyline. He later returned to Marvel to write Spider-Man and related titles.
