Thought-forms

A sculptor with a long exhibiting career, Mirtala has combined images of her sculptures with her poems, creating a whole greater than its parts. It speaks of the odyssey of life, of search and insights into its meaning. Expressing through the dynamic fluidity of words and the static medium of sculpture, Mirtala sees her creative process as giving form to thought. Hence the title of her book "Thought-Forms", in which her sculptures and poems emerge as manifested expressions of steps on her inner journey. Combining them with music, Mirtala produced "The Human Journey" video and explored these dual aspects of her creativity in a video interview "Poetry in Bronze". "Mirtala approaches bronze as a poet, drawing metaphors on the human condition and making visible a complex range of perceptions" Detroit News "The realm of her art is eternal human concerns. Viewing her sculpture is an intellectual as well as an emotional experience" Boston Herald "Thought-Forms" is an unusual book in that it is by one of those rare artists who possesses both literary and visual perceptions. Mirtala expresses this pleasing duality in her narrative and philosophical integration of the two disciplines" Leonardo International Journal of Contemporary Artist
