Chapter One
*Family Mirror, Mirror on the MomAlthough I don't admit it, Mom, you're just like me.
I look inside the mirror and you are what I see
and what I found to be true—
in oh so many ways, I act just like you.
The gestures that you make I catch myself doing.
Thank God you didn't patent your ways
because I'm the person you'll be suing
and the favorite lines you use,
they slip right off my lips
like butter on an uncooked egg or shoes without any grip.
Although this is what teachers despise,
I can't help but use your words—I guess I plagiarize.
You know what decisions I make because you might have made them
too.
I wondered why you knew so much about me, but now I guess I do.
So every dispute we had, I know why I was defeated:
Because I'm just like you, so I think you kind of cheated
But I got a better idea to go ahead, if you only knew,
I'm going to go to mirror mirror Grandma,
Who's the older mirror of you.
Kids Want to Know Why,
Part I
Why do we have to rake leaves if they will fall down again?
Why do we have to repent when there will always be sin?
Why do we have to wash when we will get again unclean?
Why do we have to be nice when your personality's mean?
Why do we have to eat when we will get hungry real soon?
Why do we have the sun and the sky and the moon?
Why do we have to change light bulbs when they will eventually blow
out?
Why do we believe that we're right and have only a slight bit of doubt?
Why do we see our friends and then have to say good-bye?
Why do we drink so much water if our throats will just get dry?
Why do we shovel the snow for it to fall right back down?
Why do we do crazy things when no one else is around?
Why do you get frustrated when I ask Why do we?
Can you examine my questions and get right back to me?
Kids Want to Know Why,
Part 2
Why do you have so many questions? Why so much to say?
You're driving me crazy, I must add if I may.
I know you have parents and I am your mother,
but for crying out loud, just go ask your brother.
Why do we rake leaves? What a great question or line!
Because if the mayor sees we haven't, everyone will be fined.
We repent when we sin
Because if we don't, then the devil's our friend.
We wash when we're older, we wash when we're young
because if we didn't we would all smell like horse dung.
We act nice when we're mean because we don't want people to see
our true and crazy sides of a mean personality.
We eat when we're hungry so we can survive.
Don't ask me that question; that's why you're alive.
We have the sun, moon, and sky
because God put them there and please don't ask me why.
We believe we're right when we have slight doubts
because we cannot admit it—the words won't come out.
We change light bulbs so that we can see.
Oh, some of these questions that you ask of me!
We say bye to our friends because we have to go.
What are some other questions you might want to know?
We drink because our throats get dry
and if we go without we can possibly die.
We shovel the snow so that no one can fall
because then if they do, they can sue us all.
We do crazy things when we're alone because we feel safe
knowing that no one will laugh in our face.
I get frustrated when you ask why when you're clever,
but the questions you ask me have answers forever.
Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all of our mothers.
It's because of you we have our sisters and brothers.
The special moments you have shared
helped us to realize how much you cared.
We will never take you for granted
for we are the seed which you have planted,
for we are the life that you brought to this earth,
a wonderful mother and our wonderful birth.
Our memories of the past will remain in our heart
Our ladies of wisdom, our seniors, are smart.
It's so much more that children should say
when wishing you all a happy Mother's Day!
Chapter Two
*Faith Daily PrayerI pray a prayer of protection—dear Lord, please protect me
not only just myself; protect my family.
Oh, guide us while we're driving or riding on the train.
I pray for traveling mercies in the hail, the sleet, or rain.
My God, please hear my prayer, dear Lord, please hear my song.
Oh, please, just give us strength when our day is going wrong.
When starting off my day, I repent for all my sins.
Protect everyone in my life, including all my friends.
Protect my little brother, although he's in preschool.
I know that little children can be a tad bit cruel,
so protect us against spirits, protect us against lust.
Keep us away from people who always like to fuss.
Turn a thief the opposite way if were walking with cash.
Turn a vicious dog away if we can't run that fast.
Turn a flying bullet away when it's coming in our direction
and when I see it pass me, I'll say, "Now, that was God's protection!"
Turn someone with words that can hurt us so they won't harm our ears.
Just protect us against all bad things, including all our fears.
And now that you let me sing to you,
my song is not neglected,
and because I know you answer prayers,
I know we're all protected.
(Listen)
If you can, just do it; if you can't, then try.
If God gives you assignments, please don't ask him why.
Too many of his commandments are questioned, too many laws not
followed.
Take any concerns that you have and just gracefully swallow.
Whoever says God isn't real has shamefully lied.
People will run away from Jesus just to follow their pride.
Something is backward—the poor give what they don't have and the
rich hold what they do.
Braggers think that they know something when God already knew.
The almighty sees what we're doing right and understands what we're
doing wrong.
He perfected a conclusion on why we don't get along.
You cannot outsmart him but some people think that they can.
You cannot outsmart the creator of yourself, the creator of man.
You cannot pretend to be someone or something that you're not.
I would rather go to paradise than that place that is so hot.
We travel this long journey, this everlasting ride,
and the word of the Lord we should try our best to abide.
Don' t Pray for the Worst,
but for the Best
You prayed that I wouldn't succeed and you failed.
You prayed I wouldn't get into heaven
while you lived in hell.
You prayed that I should never get rich and you became poor.
You though I would have less,
but I received more.
You prayed that I couldn't see and you became blind,
prayed that I couldn't think,
and you lost your mind.
We pray bad things on our enemies and I know they did bad,
but what we pray on them will bounce back to us and we will only be
mad.
We get angry to know as victims our enemies do wrong, and we think
they get away,
but we don't know how God punishes the person throughout the day.
So the best thing we can do is pray good things to them,
and in God we trust
all good things will happen to us.
No need to feel low,
being mad every day towards a person who probably doesn't know.
We cut through our happiness with an extremely sharp knife
while our enemies are living in luxury, just living out their life.
My Heavenly Father
You're like the wind I can't see but I can feel,
like a wonderful dream that feels so real
even a pinch cannot wake me.
Like a leaf getting blown by the wind,
I'll go wherever you take thee.
You make my life unpredictable.
What do you have in store?
I ask you for a little and you always give me more.
You speak to me in riddles
so that I may be surprised
at how you look at me through your eyes.
You're not like any normal dad.
You stayed with me, and for that I'm glad.
You watched me grow
and my deepest secrets you're thefirst to know.
I never had to complain about you not being there
because, like my heart, you follow me everywhere.
You turned this dark world light blue.
I wish that everyone was more like you.
Dream about Judgment
Brighter than the night,
colder than fire,
put away everything that you desire.
No man knows the time,
no man knows the hour,
except the almighty king with the almighty power
As families stand there nude,
no one takes it as sign to be rude.
We are all standing there puzzled,
standing there silent like our mouths are all muzzled,
staring into the bright sky wondering why
time has passed us by.
There were no homes, cars, or any materialistic things,
just everyone standing as naked human beings.
When he spoke, lightning lit the sky
but it wasn't visible to the human eye
It was superb—we couldn't see anything,
but the voice was surely heard.
Put aside all your materialistic things, he said
as we stood in the sand on this mysterious land.
He didn't have to shout:
What have you done for me?
is the question that stood out
as bright as the sun.
Our colors didn't matter as we were being judged as one.
What's curious to me
is, when he asks this question,
what will our answers be?
Dear Lord, I Believe in You
"I will not believe in what I can see, but what I don't see.
Dear Lord, I believe in you."
If I can see it, I know it's not forever.
If I can feel it, I know it can disappear.
But I can't see you, so I know you are forever
and since I can't touch you, I know you're always there.
How wonderful you are.
Yes, you are my Lord,
the greatest by far.
Protect me with your sword.
Our Lord is the reason for our birth.
He provided us with the Book giving us
Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.
How thankful I am for this!
I thank you, my savior,
and I repent today,
I repent for my behavior
in each and every way.
You sent Jesus as a rabbi or a teacher.
He will teach our earthly preachers to keep away from sin.
You have taught me that power is not from money or from muscles,
but the power is peace that lies within.
So I will not make material my friend.
I will not be a slave to sin.
Money and God—you can't love the two,
so I cancelled the money and said, "God, I love you because
if I can see it, I know it's not forever.
If I can feel it, I know it will disappear.
But I can't see you, so I know you are forever,
and since I can't touch you, I know you're always there.
Attitude
Your attitude is stubborn—you don't want to give in.
Give into God's words, but instead you give to sin.
You have a chance to change your attitude, and this is what I say—
If he gives a second chance, why won't you change today?
You look down upon the weak; you feel as if you're strong,
but God looks down on you and he's going to prove you wrong.
You suck your teeth at blessings; with greed you ask for more.
It's both material and money I can see that you adore.
Your attitude is awful but you have a chance to change.
God looks at you with pity as I look at you strange.
Chapter Three
*Love WishingI wish that I could hold you in my arms for hours.
I wish that we would have an everlasting love power.
I wish that our worries would flee.
I wish that for eternity we will forever be.
I wish that we would have one facial feature, that of a smile,
that the only couple numbers we knew was ours on speed dial.
I wish that I loved you so much that you would have a different
perspective of life.
I wish we had the privilege of being husband and wife.
I wish we had our own space, or simply our own place.
I wish we had everything we believed.
If I wish with all my heart I know we will receive.
My Lover
My love, my life.
My love is my life.
You're the lover of my life,
husband and wife
What a life I live in love with you—
whoever knew how much we grew,
how much of our love we would pursue,
how the good would outweigh the bad,
how the old doesn't outweigh the new,
how our present is our past,
and our past was a present,
As songs would say, you were sent from heaven.
Our love is like a waterfall that never runs out.
We can be inside a desert and never have a drought.
No doubt my love for you is strong.
I never regretted anything with you; you have never proved me wrong.
I don't care about the problems we may face—
hurt, happiness, or pain I'm willing to embrace
as long as I don't lose you.
Like Pokémon I poked my man
and I choose you. Ha ha.
But for real, I'm just saying,
the one thing I am praying is for us to be staying,
never leaving each other's side. I love cross-country trips so I'm down for
the ride.
There's only one rule—
to over love each other inside this love duel.
To love is not a sin.
It's impossible to over-love each other.
It's a tie we both will win!
I will never get tired of you; you're like a meal.
I will never get tired of you; you're like the senses that I feel.
You're like the clothes that I wear, the air that I breathe,
my painkiller—I'm now relieved. You're special to my heart.
Dearest to my mind, you are my love. my life.
My love is my life.
You're the lover of my life,
husband and wife.
What a life I live in love with you.
Someone
Someone warned me not to look at the sun because the light would
blind me
so I hid inside the dark so that the light couldn't find me.
I wasn't the only one protected; you were right behind me.
That is why we were separated; we never even met.
I guess someone told you the same thing and now we face regret.
You were running from me and I fled away from you
but after all, this is what someone told us to do,
so for an entire year we circled in a maze
but the light had caught us as we were trapped in each other's daze.
Number one was the phase of blindness:
Blind-sighted from this cruel world with each other's kindness,
blinded from the physical or emotional things we both may have lacked,
we were both blindly in love, as a matter of fact,
so when we finally got together, the question that we asked
why didn't we cross each other's paths?
How could we see each other without the courage to say hello?
And then we got the answers we desperately wanted to know.
Within the drop of a dime,
we answered that a lady told us to stay away from the light,
and the lady's name was Time!
If it hadn't been for her, we would have met before,
but time is the reason why I love you so much more.
Relationships Are Like Movies
Marriage, Friendships, and Family
Compare the three to the one and you do the math—
relationships are like funny movies that make you laugh.
Relationships are just like movies—do you want to know why?
Because depending on the movie, they can make you scream, yell or cry.
Marriages, friendships, families and such
are like that movie you constantly watch—you saw it too much.
Sometimes it can be your favorite and you want to repeat it
or like a bad marriage when you want to delete it
or like a great friend—you wish you could rewind time—
or like a crazy family member that makes you lose your mind.
Movies give you a heads up on how relationships will be
whether it's explained in reality or an expensive 3D.
Sometimes relationships can be like movies, very boring,
everyone in the theater leaned back in their chairs snoring.
Or you watch a karate movie and you feel like fighting
Relationships, like movies, can be rather exciting.
You put your favorite movie away because now you are tired,
tell your favorite actors they are currently fired,
and years later, when you pull the movie out from under the dew,
you say, "What is this?" because it looks so brand new.
Now that once-old movie is something you again admire,
bringing back your laughs, tears of joy, and everything you once desired.
So when my mom, husband, or best friend says they're tired of me,
I know it's because relationships are like movies sometimes, and
sometimes TV!
Before Marriage
Prove to me that you love me.
I like words, but I love action.
Prove to me I complete you
with a little satisfaction.
Prove to me that you'll die for me
and put your life on the line.
I'm very special to you;
show me how divine.
Prove to me that you'll protect me.
Show me your unbreakable shield.
Prove to me you don't like chaos
and be the first to yield.
Prove to me that that you won't lie.
I'm a detective, so take this test,
and if you do hate drugs,
come here. Let me smell your breath.
Prove to me that you are serious and everything will be fine.
Kneel down on your knees and I will absolutely accept your line.
You Complete Me
You are the missing piece to my heart,
like the key that makes my car start.
You are the A to my quiz,
the genius to my whiz.
You are the water in my pool,
my special glasses that make me feel cool.
You are the rhythm to my dance,
the smoothness of my favorite pants,
you are the scent to my favorite smell.
Do you see?
These are some of the reasons why you complete me.
