Octavo, original sheep, light wear, corners bit worn, with several signatures on blank end leaves of the Garfield family; the earliest signature being that of Ebenezer Garfield, dated March 28th, 1786, very nice. The preface dedication to Joseph Willard, president of Harvard University, was written especially for this edition by the printer and editor, Robert Hodge for this first American edition. Although there is no date in the imprint, various works suggest 1779 as the earliest date, with Shipton & Mooney suggesting the later date of 1783. Evans (Shipton & Mooney), 1621.
