About this title

Synopsis

Linda's book of political poetry, "Thoughts in Rhyme From a Contentious Time," includes poems and song parodies written over six years, from the day Donald Trump rode down the escalator to announce his candidacy in 2015 to the final poem, written for the inauguration of Joe Biden on January 20, 2021. This collection includes a variety of rhyming styles and lengths, with narration to explain the events that inspired each poem and parody. To those who downplay the toxicity of those years, Linda hopes her poetry will provide insight into the detrimental effect that Trump's hurtful words and actions had on so many. To those who share her feelings of being abused and bullied, Linda gives those sentiments a voice - sometimes in anger, often with humor - but always in rhyme.

About the Author

Linda is a retired elementary school teacher. Her use of original songs and poems, coupled with the added enticement of edible manipulatives, resulted in her students' favorite math lessons. In addition to the math tutoring she delivers via Zoom, Linda enjoys her work as a volunteer, recording books and magazines for the blind. As a seasoned reader and thespian, Linda makes stories and articles spring to life for visually impaired listeners. A life-long baker, she also delights in creating treats (mostly chocolate!) for her family, co-workers and friends. Linda lives in Arizona with her husband, Bill, and a rapidly growing, young African Sulcata Tortoise named Tortuga.
