Charles Mackay was a Scottish poet, journalist, author and songwriter, best remembered for his book Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds. In a prize binding with a prize bookplate to the front pastedown which reads, 'Before Honor is Humility. Presented by the Staffordshire Church Board of Education', alongside a ink inscription. In a calf prize binding. Externally, smart with some wear to extremities. Front joint starting. Spine faded. Prize bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean with scattered spotting. Blind stamp to front blank. Very Good.
