A good hardback 3-volume set with a bit of shelf wear, in the publisher's original green cloth with gilt decoration to upper covers and spines. The outer corners of all 3 volumes are a bit creased and rubbed, and all the volumes have a small injury to their extremities (volumes 1 and 2 at the tail of their spines, volume 3 where the top left-hand corner of the upper cover meets the head of the spine). All 3 volumes have a neat previous ownership initial and a date (1937) in the top right-hand corner of the half title page. There is some creasing to the right-hand edge of one of the Index leaves in the final volume, close to where the newspaper obituary has been stuck on to the rear endpapers. There is also a bit of creasing to the top right-hand corner of the upper cover of volume 3. The bindings are secure and the contents are clean. Overall, a good hardback set with a bit of creasing and rubbing to the extremities, and a small injury to each of the volumes.
