Aside from a little edgewear, light age toning of pages and former owner's name inside, the book is in quite nice shape. The story follows Julie, a teenage girl, and her grandmother who must drive from Florida back to the Midwest after a family emergency. Along the way: Julie is an inexperienced and nervous driver They pick up two hitchhikers who initially seem helpful - The situation turns dangerous as the hitchhikers take control of the ca -r Julie and her grandmother are effectively held captive during the journey. Written in mid 20th century style, the book, while fast paced, is less graphic than modern thrillers and reflects the social norms and travel culture of its era (e.g., hitchhiking, long road trips). Considered vintage and collectible youth fiction.
