Depending on the type of photoresist, we either used chemical vapor deposition of silver or electroplating of gold. Some of the fabricated structures give rise to bi-anisotropy resulting in a cross-coupling of the electric and magnetic fields of an incident light wave. Additionally, we have presented two unit cell designs which show a negative index of refraction at infrared frequencies.

About the Author

received the Diploma in physics from the Universität Ulm (Germany) in 2006. Four years later, he received the Ph.D. degree from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany). He was engaged in the field of X-Ray dosimetry. His current research interests include the fabrication and characterization of 3D metamaterials at optical frequencies.
