Eighteenth century French classical guitaristand composer François de Fossa adapted numerous pieces by Haydn for two classical guitars, originally written for arrangements such as string quartet, keyboard, andsymphony orchestra. De Fossa largely transposed each piece to be more guitar-friendly, but some also remain in difficult keys, such as A-flat.Haydn's talent for keeping up with the musical trends of his time provided de Fossa with ample opportunity to pick and choose certain movements and fit them together stylistically.
