All three letters or notes are in the original mailing endvelopes with the stamp portion torn off (removing the stamp, probably for a collector). The 1929 letter from Judson is the longest (8 pages).and is mostly a chatty letter about weather, the school and the difficult path their night school students have in trying to pass the government exams when coming from school that cannot goive the diploma recognized by the government when taking the examinations to qualify for higher education. She also mentions that she will be seventy in the fall of the next year and hopes that the [Mission] Board wiill remember that she will be 70 until her 71st brithday. She mentions at the end that she is looking forward to receiving the gift which Mrs. Bronson has said is coming and adds a P.S. ("I hope you know my successor-to-be, Mrs. Gulick")." The 1931 letter finds her well along toward retirement (which happened in 1932). Judson thanks Mrs. Bronson for a $50 gift and mentions preparations to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Night School on Oct. 16th. The two page note from Nobu Jo was written on Kobe Women's Welfare Association stationery and thanks Mrs. Bronson for "your kind present for calamity of water in Kobe last summer through Mrs. Alo[?]".
