Reviews
Rinpoche (1906-87) was a teaching master of the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. In this commentary on The Three Visions, by Ngorchen Konchog Lhundrub (1497-1557), Rinpoche develops his understanding of the three levels of perception in the Lam-dre path of meditation. Rinpoche had the ability to take everyday examples and turn them into tools for meditative and spiritual advancement. For example, he shows how love for one's mother can be used to expand one's love for one's friends, acquaintances, and even enemies while advancing through the various levels of perception. The 70-page introduction overviews the general history and teachings of the Sakya tradition and shows where Rinpoche fits. Recommended for libraries needing a thorough yet understandable book on meditation as practiced in the Sakya tradition.?David Bourquin, California State Univ., San Bernardino
