The Three Marys: Role Models for Women Who Seek the Love of Jesus (Crestview Bible Studies)

This 8-week Bible study is designed to disciple women who long to say “yes,” to Jesus. The first five lessons focus on the three Marys. By trusting His character and coping with God-ordained change, Mary the mother of Jesus, is an example of obedience and courage. Mary Magdalene, a woman with a painful past, focuses on the deliverance Christ offers and the transformed life that results when we appropriate His forgiveness. Mary of Bethany sits at the feet of Jesus as a disciple. The perfume she pours on His head and feet before His death is a memorial of love poured out.

The next two lessons focus on the unique ministry of comfort women have. Those present at His crucifixion and later at the tomb inspire us with their raw courage and their willingness to be there for the Lord they love. The final lesson shows the women after His ascension waiting in the upper room as Jesus told them to. God always keeps His promises to those who quietly wait. It’s something we need to discover, too.

Each lesson in the study is arranged in the following format: A Closer Look at the Problem, A Closer Look at God’s Word, A Closer Look at My Life, and Action Steps I Can Take Today. As women study and discuss the ways each woman related to Jesus, they will see more clearly the woman God desires them to be. With His help each one will become that woman.

Although Eva Gibson first started writing novels and curriculum for teens, God had something more in mind. After spending several months in Vienna, Austria in 1992 helping to write a Bible study on Hebrews for use by pastors and leaders in eastern Europe she returned home and wrote her first study for women, Called to Spiritual Maturity: a Study of Hebrews 1-4. Her latest study for women is The Gift of Forgiveness. When she is not teaching or speaking she is at home in Wilsonville, Oregon with her husband. They have been married for 53 years and have been blessed with 6 grown children (the oldest son is in heaven), 16 grandchildren, and two great granddaughters.
