From Three, the Myriad: The First Impetus and the Human-AI Civilization asks a problem that arises before any self-generating civilization can exist: how can it begin?

Building on the theoretical foundations of Vectorism and The Human-AI Civilization, Wang Lixiong argues that humanity faces a structural problem intensified by artificial intelligence. Global risks are increasingly shared, yet the capacity to form binding decisions remains divided among states, corporations, platforms, and other centers of power. AI can amplify the capabilities of each of these actors without creating a common human subject capable of forming Social Will.

The book examines why existing democratic, deliberative, decentralized, and AI-assisted governance mechanisms, despite their achievements, do not yet form a continuous chain through which individual human wills can generate an enduring collective subject.

It then confronts the central paradox of civilizational transition. A civilization capable of recursively generating and governing itself cannot use that capacity before it exists. It therefore requires a First Impetus: an initial force capable of constructing the smallest viable Civilizational Seed while preventing founders, funders, developers, states, or AI systems from converting their initiating role into permanent ownership or authority.

The book follows this problem from theory selection and legitimacy to stewardship, institutional design, AI agents, recursive governance, engineering, independent deployment, and the conditions under which the initiators must withdraw. Its goal is not to design the future in advance, but to establish the conditions under which human beings and AI can form a self-governing civilization capable of continuing, adapting, and reproducing itself without a permanent center.
